Ashfield Ferret Club

We Love Ferrets

Robin Hood Game & Country Show Newark

This was our second visit to the Newark Show Ground this year. This time it was for Aztecpromotions in the shape of,

The Robin Hood Game and Country Show 17th & 18th October 2009

The Saturday was a quiet day for every one, and was very cold, but it did stay dry. Visitors to the stand included some who came in June,

and others who missed us last time, lots of intrest from young and old alike. On Sunday the weather was alot better and the sun shined on us most of the day,

we were very buisey with lots of children wanting to hold or stroke the ferrets and the older generation wanting to share thier memories of ferrets and rabbiting when they were youngsters.

It was good to see so many teenagers interested in ferrets, we even had ferret owners bringing thier ferrets to the show, just to show them to us, and also race them against ours, we hope to return next year.

Thanks to Daz and Michele Price who came to help us and had a great time, also Katrina and Christian who are regular helpers, and of course my family who make it happen.

Papplewick Open Day 2009

For the 3rd year running we attended the Papplewick Pumping Station Open Day, August Bank Holiday. (sun/mon 30/31 Aug.)

The Sunday was fairly quiet, as the weather although dry was overcast and cold, but we still had lots of visitors, some coming back to see us from last year.

The Monday was a lot better with bright sunshine all day and warm as well, lots of interest with the ferrets, and the racing as well. We used our new Racing gear

for the first time, and it was very good. Other events included Archery, Exploring the underground resivoir, 46 Harley Davidson MotorCycles on display, and the working Pumping Station Built 127 years ago.

Hope to see everyone again next year.

GLEN PARVA PARISH COUNCIL, Aug 09

Glen Parva Parish Council, Open Day.  8th August 09

What a realy nice day it was, bright sun shire throughout the day, and hot to go with it, the forcast was rain on friday but clear on saturday, and after last week we needed a nice day.

The event went real well for the organises, with a good turnout on the day with the good weather, lots of stalls and animal stands, the FERRETS went down a treat, lots of intrest and questions. The public loved it when team members put harnesses on a few and took them for a walk. We had a selection of 1 year olds on dislay and for kids to hold, as well as some Kits of 12 -16 weeks old on display for the experience. Thank you to Michelle Owen for coming to help, michelle brought her Ferret Roulet with her. We have been asked to go back next year.

THE ARK, 2nd AUGUST 09

The ARK, Ashbourne Animal Rescue, 2nd August 09.

It rained all week prior to the show, but the organisers still wanted us to come, so go we did.

Helpers Katrina & Christian with Clare in one car, and Me, Margaret, my mum Brenda and Ben & Josh in my car.

All was well untill we got to Derby on the way, when Katrina flashed me and excitedly kept pointing to pull over.

That is when we saw what they did, lots of smoke pouring from the engine of my car. On investigastion, I discovered the clutch had burnt out, and the engine itself was smoking, the car died.

Quickly transfering equipement between the cars,Clare, Katrina and Christian made their way to the Event with what they could carry, we waited for the RAC.

The others arrived at The Ark, and were given a pitch on some grass which turned into a mud bowl very quickly, but they made the best with what they had.

The PR stand was buisey all day, and did very well. I ditched the car in the mazda garage and on the spur of the moment, replaced it with another car there and then.

When we arrived at the ARK, the open day was more or less over so we helped to get the stuff home, we are going back next year to do the ferret racing which everyone missed this year.

See all the pics in the PR Photo Gallery.
